]]> Come hungry, as you’re likely to eat this snack board on site! Learn how to make personal sized whipped butter boards at the Adirondack Harvest Festival with Chef Robert Dumas, Director Institute of Adventure Hospitality and Food at Paul Smith’s ÃÀÅ®ÂÜÀò.

Traditional bread and butter just got taken to the next level with this simple, easily replicable and shareable dish. A butter board is a sensation taking over social media, where wooden boards have butter spread over them and finished with various toppings. Butter boards can be something that add a vibrant pop of color to your hosting spread.

In this workshop, Chef Dumas will have attendees taste different types of honey – like blueberry, buckwheat, wildflower – that attendees will whip with butter to spread over their personal boards. Then, attendees will decide which kinds of edible flowers and other toppings they’ll use to garnish the butter board. Crackers or bread will be provided to enjoy the butter board when they’re finished.

Kid-friendly cooking workshop! Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to register for this workshop.

]]> Join Nick Brewer (VIC Steward/Guide) for a 4-hour course to learn the basics of paddling! In this course, you will learn everything from the parts of the canoe and associated gear, different strokes and paddling techniques, rescue techniques and more.

Important Notes for the Course:  -Participants are responsible for their own clothing, wetsuits and/or swimsuits, shoes that can get wet, and dry bags are encouraged. Expect to get wet and be in the water towards the end of the training for rescue techniques.

-Participants will also need to bring their own lunches/water, sunscreen, bug spray, hats and sunglasses.

-The VIC will provide canoes, life vests, paddles, dry bags and instruction.

Bring anything you need to be comfortable in the woods for a few hours- including food and water. Tools and gloves will be provided, but if you have your own gloves and/or loppers/pruners that you like using, feel free to bring them.

Directions to the Black Pond Trailhead:

From the junction of NY-86 and NY-30 (right across from the main entrance to the ÃÀÅ®ÂÜÀò), take the first left onto Keese Mills Road. Drive for 2.5 miles, then the trailhead will be on your right. If you see the St Regis Trailhead, you’ve gone too far!
